Salto AI: the future of business application configuration

Business applications are becoming more and more capable and user-friendly. But that comes with a price: on the backend, the process of configuring those systems is growing increasingly complex. For some companies we met, altering something in their Salesforce org or Zendesk instance might cause major disruption.

To help businesses navigate this challenge, 4 years ago we built Salto and came up with NaCl, which stands for Not Another Configuration Language. NaCl translates configurations to human-readable format first, and to an easy-to-use UI second, transforming this configuration sprawl into something that can be managed with ease and confidence.

Our dependency analysis, deployment, and monitoring features are all powered by NaCl, which describes the configuration of various business applications using text.

Guess what else is great at working with text?

Not another AI

According to the latest available data, over 100 million people have used ChatGPT or other Large Language Models (LLMs) since April 2023. For many of them, AI is helping troubleshoot software issues, find guidelines on application functionalities, and optimize business workflows.

We’ve published a few blog posts on how ChatGPT can assist NetSuite, Jira and Zendesk admins.

Recent advancements in LLMs will also change how we interface with business systems and will open up new exciting possibilities for our NaCl. Here you can read what Salto’s CEO Rami Tamir thinks about the impact generative AI will make on the entire discipline of configuring and managing cloud applications.

Salto is the only solution on the market that represents business app configurations using a human-readable format, which puts us in a unique position to advance it into the future using AI.

Today, we’re thrilled to introduce Salto AI, a suite of groundbreaking product features that will be rolling out in the upcoming months.

Meet Salto Explain

The first AI feature we want to share with you today is called Explain. And it does just that.

Explain gives you an instant description of each configuration element in plain English. Whether it’s a Salesforce flow, Zendesk trigger, NetSuite workflow, Jira automation (or hundreds of other elements across 8 business applications), Explain will generate a comprehensive overview of what that element does and how it’s built.

Explain turns something like that:

Into this:

No more asking colleagues or sifting through documentation (if you even have one). With Explain, you can quickly define and understand every configuration element or review someone else’s work to ensure it meets the requirements. This feature also allows you to onboard new team members faster and more efficiently, making sure everyone gets a clear understanding of your setup.

Like Salto’s other winning features, Explain is all about saving time, embracing complexity, and staying in control of your business applications.

And we’ve got more up our sleeve: like another (soon to come!) Salto AI feature, Digest that will generate and send out weekly snapshots of key changes made in your instance, highlighting things that matter to your team or to specific stakeholders.

If you’re curious about Salto AI and want more info or a demo, drop us a line. And stay tuned for more cool stuff coming soon.

If you’re a Salto customer: Explain is gradually rolling out to our users. If you want to get early access, please reach out to your customer engineer.
